All months of the year are suitable to photograph from the Greystone Mansion, although spring and summer months might bring the best weather. That said, weddings and special events are also common at Greystone so some areas may be off-limits.

Given the hours of the mansion you’ll want to visit around mid-day through late-afternoon. The weekdays might not be as busy as the weekend, although it’s usually not very crowded anyway. Nothing can beat beautiful LA evening sky that's turned into pastel colors but it also won't stop you to visit when the sun is out with a blue sky!

Professional photography, filming and use of props can only be done with a permit, so if you bring along a DSLR make sure it’s only for a “Vacation Picture.” A camera phone and built-in lens is really all you need!

Depending on the focus of the shot, either architectural or a person, the stairs should be a main focus.
