The Venice Pride Flag Lifeguard Tower on Venice Beach can be photographed during any month. Since Los Angeles doesn't have many seasonal changes, the tower will look the same no matter the time of year.
Cloudy weather can make the colors pop, while a clear blue sky and direct sunlight can wash it out. Check the weather beforehand to make sure it's not too sunny.
Field tips
Please be aware and respectful of the other people on the beach.
Keep in mind to not do anything that would damage the property or harm your model.
Ensure your model is safe on the lifeguard stand and is comfortable with jumping, if that's what you choose to have them do.
I recommend using a wide-angle lens for this image to capture the surrounding beach and sky with no other competing elements in the photo.
I think it's best to have your model wear all black so that they contrast against the muted sky and rainbow lifeguard stand, but get creative with their wardrobe and see what works best for you and your composition.
Be quick in taking your shots with whatever pose your model is doing. If they're in motion, you'll need to take a lot of photos very quickly so you can capture a crip, non-blurry image.

Check out the Venice Skate Park to people watch and enjoy the sunken pool, ledges and rails for skateboarding.
If you're up for shopping, head to Abbot Kinney Boulevard. It's a mile long stretch that has shops selling locally-made goods, as well as name-brand stores, like Adidas.
The Santa Monica Pier is also an incredible place to visit. It even features a small amusement park!
