When to go
Visit any month of the year because this area doesn’t really “experience” any change in season.
Come during sunrise to capture the light glowing on California Street as well as on the Bay Bridge. There are also fewer cars and pedestrians at this time.
Field tips
Follow local drone regulations and permit requirements if flying a drone.
Be extremely careful if you’re flying a drone — you’re in the middle of the city with lots of buildings. Keep your eye on the road as to avoid passing traffic and cable cars coming up the street.
By using a wide-angle lens you’ll be able to capture the city action that’s all around.
Be patient and wait for a cable car to move into your frame. It adds an interesting subject that typifies San Francisco. Or, perhaps something else exciting will pass through!
Try centering California Street and the Bay Bridge in the middle of your shot to evenly split your image.
This area is also great for product photography.
