The image was taken from the first floor (one level from the ground floor) of St Pancras International Railway Station. Either from Euston Road or from Kings Cross St Pancras Station, enter into the station from the south entrance and head up the stairs. Looking toward the end of the station, face north and position yourself at the side of the stairs and place your camera onto the handrails to get a familiar view. By London Underground: - Closest stations: King's Cross St Pancras Underground Station (via Circle, Metropolitan, Piccadilly, Hammersmith & City, Northern or Victoria) - Head southeast to enter into the building Address: St Pancras International, Euston Rd, Kings Cross, London N1C 4QP

Tips

When to go

Best season

All months

Best time

Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
You can photograph the interior of St Pancras International Railway any month of the year.
You can find similar lighting conditions during anytime of the day, but I recommend visiting this spot on an overcast day. Sometimes, if there is too much sunlight coming in through the atrium, the lighting will be too harsh.

Field tips

I used a 20mm lens here, but something that's even wider — like a 16mm lens — would allow you to incorporate more of the station in your frame.
Try using a small aperture. I took the photo from a handrail so it was supported and the people moving could be captured from a more stabilized view.
Verticals are always a key point in architecture photography! It's best to see if you can align the leading lines so everything draws the eye to a certain point near the center of your image.

Do nearby

Just northwest of St Pancras International Railway is Granary Square. Head to this area for a nice walk through the canals, as you stop by the different retail and coffee shops in the area. It's also a great place to enjoy a drink with some friends!
If you're a fan of Harry Potter, visit The Harry Potter Shop at Platform 9 3/4 near the London King's Cross station. There might be a short line, but it's worth the wait to get the classic walk-through-the-wall photo, like in the movies.
