This image was taken of the Detroit Tigers' mascot, outside of the Comerica Park in downtown Detroit.
You can either drive or take public transportation to get to this location. From the main entrance of the stadium, head northwest along Witherell Street. After you pass The Corner Tap Room (on your right), the tiger will be straight ahead.
By Public Transportation:
- Closest station: Montcalm St (Q Line)
- Head southeast on Woodward Ave toward W Montcalm St
- Turn left at W Montcalm St
- Turn right onto Woodward Ave
- Turn left onto E Columbia St and the destination will be straight ahead
Tips
When to go
Best season
All months
Best time
Morning
Although it's possible to find fog year round, October and April are the best months to capture the muggy atmosphere at Comerica Park.
When the seasons change from summer to fall and fall to spring, the condensation in the air will give you a more hazy atmosphere.
The early morning will produce the most fog. By the time the morning is over, the fog will disappear so make sure to arrive fairly early.
Field tips
Fog is a natural "special effect" so have fun with it! Get to the park early so you can capture the fog at its peak and then later, hang around to experiment with what it looks like when the tiger becomes more visible.
By photographing low to the ground you can make the tiger appear larger.
Walk around and photograph the tiger from multiple angles.

Do nearby
This area is a hot spot for food, music, sports and entertainment! There are many rooftops, bars and restaurants you can check out, but I highly recommend going to Cliff Bell's. It's a 1920s-themed jazz club that serves great cocktails and food. People tend to dress up here, so embrace the prohibition-era style.
