Nestled in an idyllic neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights, these immaculate brownstones and well-manicured greenery are made for a photogenic backdrop. If you frame it properly, you can capture the street lamp evenly dividing the two houses — an impressive feat!

These red and blue façades are located at the intersection of Joralemon Street and Columbia Place in Brooklyn Heights. To get this view, I stood across the street. By Subway: - Closest station: Court Street Station (N, R, W Trains) - Head south on Clinton St toward Montague St - Turn right onto Joralemon St and the houses will be on your right

Tips

When to go

Best season

All months

Best time

Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
Since it's an outdoor façade, you can visit any month as long as the weather is nice. In the summer, the greenery will be more apparent like it is in my photo.
The natural light during the day will help accentuate the colors and textures of the architecture.

Field tips

The angle that works best for this shot is directly across the street. By standing there, you can have the street lamp equally split the two buildings in your composition.
Use the lines of the townhouse to guide the framing of your shot. If you're properly aligned the image won't look distorted.
It's also great to have an interesting subject walk by. A passerby or a classic yellow taxi will inject more life into the photo.
