When to go
Best season
January, February, March, December
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
There is a large tree in front of the mural, so in order to get an unobstructed view, I recommend going in the winter months when the tree is bare.
I suggest visiting during morning through late afternoon to capture the vibrant colors of the mural. The atmosphere in sunrise, sunset and blue hour could also give a cool mood to this hidden gem.
Field tips
By photographing from across the street, you’ll be able to incorporate all five musicians into one single shot. Otherwise, a closer look into each individual is also a great idea.
Try to align yourself in the middle of the mural so that your entire frame is centered. You want the mural to be the focus, so if it's centered, your image will be more proportional.
A person walking by or a classic New York taxi cab could make your photo more lively and interesting. Be patient and wait for your favorite subject to walk or drive by.
