Tips

When to go

Best season

All months

Best time

Late afternoon, Sunset
You can photograph from this pedestrian path any month of year.
Sunsets are amazing here! This photo was taken a little before sunset, so try going when it's a cloudy day around the same time. To bring more color into your photo, go on a day when the light is painted with a pink, yellow and orange sky.

Field tips

Since this spot is popular, it can be a little cliché. Experiment with different angles, perspectives and lenses to add your own personal touch to the photo. I tried to make this one a little edgier and used a telephoto lens to zoom in more on the financial district.
Use the highway roads as leading lines. This will guide the eye to the city skyline.
The smoothed curving of the highway adds a nice contrast to the structured architecture of the buildings.

Do nearby

Explore Dumbo on the Brooklyn side of the Bridge and Chinatown on the Manhattan side. Each way you go, there will be restaurants and waterfront views of the city.
One of my favorite restaurants, Vanessa's Dumpling House (118 Eldridge St, New York, NY 10002), is in Chinatown nearby the Manhattan entrance of the bridge. It's authentic Chinese food that's perfect for a fun dinner.
