Best time

The Christmas tree is on display from the end of November through the beginning of January. It’s best to check the Rockefeller Tree Lighting website for the exact dates.
During the holidays, this location is incredibly popular for visitors and locals and often gets very very crowded. If possible, the best times to visit are early morning during the week, from sunrise to 9am.

Field tips

You can stand along the sidewalk on 5th Avenue to get a similar shot but try to vary the distance and walk towards the tree — you’ll have a different perspective and surrounding.
Try incorporating the angels and other decorations into your composition.
Make sure to line yourself up perfectly with the tree and building and use the leading lines to help.
