Hunter's Point South Park Cantilevered Platform & Long Island City

This image was taken by a drone in the southern portion of Hunter's Point South Park. From here, you'll be able to frame the cantilevered platform, Long Island City and Midtown Manhattan. The corner of Center Blvd and 54th Ave also provides a good quiet location to take off your drone with visibility of the park in all four directions. By Subway: - Closest Station: Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue (7 Train) - Walk west on 50th Avenue - Turn left on Center Boulevard, then walk till the end of the park. If you drive, you can either street park or park in one of the nearby garages.

All months are great to visit the park, although the setting spring and summer sun will provide the best illumination against the park.

At sunset, the park is nicely lit by the setting sun. You can also catch the sun shining through the buildings as it sets behind Manhattan.

Be extremely careful while flying your drone over this area since a lot of tour helicopters and seaplanes land on the East River. The location is also in close proximity to the UN on East 42nd and LGA airport.

Try flying a bit south of the cantilevered platform and over the water to get this type of vantage point. Alternatively, you can experiment from the East of the walkway to capture a different perspective using the city skyline as the backdrop.

The platform serves as a distinct leading line. Experiment with different ways of incorporating it into your frame.

Head to The Creek and the Cave. It's a hot spot for local comedy shows, pinball tournaments and catching up over food and drinks.
