When to go
As long as there isn't any rain or snow, you can capture a similar scene of Circus Mews on Circus Lane during any month. For reference, I shot this image in December.
I suggest shooting at sunset to capture the golden glow on the side of the Saint Stephen's Edinburgh clocktower.
This is usually quite a popular street, so try to avoid the middle of the day if possible.
Field tips
Bring along a model to capture some movement in your photo. This will be a form of trial and error with the model moving around, but I suggest continuously firing off shots to get the desired image. I think it's best to have the model in a flowy dress to further emphasize their movement.
For a fresh perspective, walk down further along Circus Lane to get another view of the clocktower.
Focal lengths of 35-50mm will give you a good frame, as well as a good subject separation.
Pay attention to how you line up the tower and the curved road. In my image, the tower hovers in the middle of the road.
