Take a dazzling walk through an illuminated universe while being surrounded by a seemingly infinite number of stars. This interactive light art installation with over 170,000 LED lights has been a stellar highlight of the museum for years and it makes for an out-of-this-world photo location, too.

Best time

Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon, Sunset, Night
All months are ideal to photograph from within the Crystal Universe Space exhibition at the ArtScience Museum.
The museum is open from 10am to 7pm (last admission at 6pm) every day. Although you can visit during any of the opening hours, I recommend visiting right when the museum opens in the morning or right when it's about to close at night. It's really up to you if you want to rush to the last room to get an empty space without any other visitors. You'll most likely have to wait for a clean shot if you visit during the day, but it's worth it to have the room to yourself.

Field tips

Try asking the museum stuff to start your exhibition walk at the last room when visiting early to get the maximum amount of time with no other visitors walking by.
Place your camera lens as close as possible to the ground to get an optimal reflection. Consider a 50/50 horizontal split when taking the photo.
To create a sense of symmetry in the room, I suggest placing your model in the middle of the room.
At the corner of the room, you'll find an interactive device to change the lighting. Play around with it and shoot with different color settings such as yellow, white or blue. There's also a pulsing animation if you would like to take a video.
Don't waste your time bringing a tripod since you're not allowed to use it at the museum.

Do nearby

There are additional season-changing exhibitions to explore at the museum. The museum is located at Marina Bay, too, which makes for a nice skyline view (especially at night!). I recommend watching the Marina Bay Sands Light Show at 8pm or 9pm.
