On the other side of Singapore's amazing skyline you’ll discover a very futuristic garden of Supertrees - beautiful both in the day and night. (Drone) (a permit is required if flying a drone weighing more than 7kg, within 5km of an airport/military base, or higher than 200 feet)

This photograph is a look down shot of the Garden by the Bay's Supertrees. Flying a drone is not allowed from within Gardens by the Bay, so I stood on the grass patch opposite to the Gardens by the Bay, Bay South entrance. You can get dropped off by car on Marina Gardens Dr near the GPS coordinate or follow the directions below via MRT. Fly the drone above the Gardens by the Bay and you'll have a great look down view of the Supertrees! By MRT: - Closest MRT Station: Bayfront (Circle or Downtown Lines) - Take Exit B and follow the underground linkway - Exit and cross the Dragonfly Bridge or Meadow Bridge into Gardens by the Bay - Walk through the gardens towards the direction of McDonald's. Once you get to McDonald's, you will see a drop off point. - Walk towards the sheltered walkway and go all the way to the end until you see a traffic light. - Cross the traffic light to arrive at the grass patch where you can then fly the drone.

Tips

When to go

Best season

All months

Best time

Late afternoon, Sunset
Every month of the year you can photograph the Supertrees at the Gardens by the Bay.
In the late-afternoon and sunset the lighting is much softer; you won’t have to worry about losing detail from harsh light. Stick around through blue hour and you'll witness night lights of the Gardens.

Field tips

A permit is required if flying a drone weighing more than 7kg, within 5km of an airport/military base, or higher than 200 feet.
Although this look down is a flat lay shot, proportions are very important. Think of how you would want to balance your subject with the surroundings (good proportions make it pleasing to the eye and retain your audience).
If you are photographing in harsh lighting, try shooting underexposed by 0.3-1 stops and bring the shadows back during post-processing.
Using a Netural Density (ND) filter / polarizers will help you preserve details in the photograph.
The Gardens by the Bay beautifully lights up in the night, so stick around if you can!
