A unique perspective of the Central Business District unbeknown to most! It's also a great vantage point with a cool breeze (not to be taken for granted in Singapore).

I took this photograph from within the Sands Expo and Convention Center. Locate the escalators on the ground floor that go up to the 3rd floor and head towards the doors that overlook Singapore's skyline. Walk onto the area outside with artificial grass, turn left, and walk all the way down towards the spot that overlooks the Central Business District. By MRT: - Closest MRT Station: Bayfront (Downtown Line) - Take Exit "E" - Head southwest toward Bayfront Link - Turn right onto Bayfront Link Address: Sands Expo and Convention Centre, 1 Bayfront Ave, Singapore 018971

Tips

When to go

Best season

All months

Best time

Night
Every month in Singapore provides a different look; visit during the monsoon season for overcast skies or during the hotter months for the ideal sunset.
At night the city's office buildings brightly light up, which is perfect for night photography. Visiting during sunset allows you to capture beautifully colored hues contrasting against the steel buildings.

Field tips

By using a wide-angle lens (16mm) you'll be able to maximize the capture of the Central Business District (compared to a kit lens or zoom lens). If you're using a camera with a cropped sensor, bring a 10-18mm lens. With a full-frame sensor a 11-24mm or 16-35mm lens will do the trick.
If you're visiting at night and want to capture the city's vibrant lights, use a tripod for a long exposure (my shutter speed was 20 seconds).
I ensured the buildings were composed straight by using my camera's grids.
To capture as much details as possible, I avoided a wide aperture; I didn't want the "bokeh" effect. Any aperture from f8 to f16 should do the trick.
