When to go
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
The Golden Mile Complex Letterboxes can be photographed during any time of the year. Since it's an interior location, the weather won't affect the image.
The sunlight in the morning, midday and late afternoon pierces through the window panes above the letterboxes and provides soft, warm light over the area.
Field tips
By using a normal lens (50mm), I was able to frame the subject and easily emphasize the leading lines by using the rows of letterboxes.
You can bring symmetry to your image by standing in the middle of the hall. The letterboxes at the back of the room create a neutral background, which will help to create focus on the model's hand and camera.
You may want your model to wear an outfit with a contrasting color, so that they stand out from the background. Having a prop, like a camera, is useful too. It adds an extra element to your shot if your model is holding onto something — especially as it pop against the more muted tones of the letterboxes.
