Wat Huay Pla Kang Dragon Staircase

avatar
@throughlucaslens
Also known as the Big Buddha of Chiang Rai, Wat Huay Pla Kang is full of impressive buildings. Here, the immense tranquility is almost tangible, as majestic white dragons spiral skyward, protecting the temple grounds. The striking contrast of a monk’s saffron robes against the pristine white sculptures transports viewers to another world, and rewards photographers with unique views.

A mere 15-minute cab ride separates the heart of Chiang Rai from the peaceful expanse of Wat Huay Pla Kang. The best way to get there is to take a cab from Chiang Rai. To return to Chiang Rai, you might not be able to see many cabs so I recommend downloading the Grab app; you might have to wait a little. Once you arrive, walk toward the white dragons and stand on the stairs. Consider waiting for a passerby or use a friend as a model. Address: Wat Huay Pla Kang Mae Yao, Mueang Chiang Rai Chiang Rai 57100 Thailand
