A must-see in the East Bay area, Sather Tower is the third-tallest bell and clock tower in the world. Located on the UC Berkeley campus, the historic tower is one of the symbols of the university. Don’t miss out on capturing the photogenic building from various angles!

This composition is of the Sather Tower on UC Berekely’s campus. My drone was east (looking west) of the tower. The Faculty Glade is a wooded, grassy area where you could fly your drone, but be mindful not to disturb others. It’s close to the tower.

Sunset
All months of the year are suitable to photograph the Sather Tower. The different seasons and weather conditions will offer different moods and feels.
To capture nice light in the distance or in the corner of your image, visit during sunset and get the glow of light!

Field tips

Follow local drone regulations and permit requirements if flying a drone. The school is private property so approval and / or a license is required.
Use a drone and capture many different angles of the tower.
I composed the Sather Tower in the center of my shot, but experiment to find what works for you - a look up view is also nice!
The campus' architecture is beautiful, so even if you don’t have a drone, roam around and get some images with your camera.
