I took this photograph within The Valley Performing Arts Center (VPAC) on the west side of the building. It’s on the California State University Northridge campus.
Parking lots are accessible from Nordhoff Street and Lindley Avenue. From here you'll park in structure G3, and you'll enjoy a 10 - 15 minute walk to VPAC. Make sure to allow yourself enough time to park and walk if you're visiting for a performance.

When to go

Best time
Late afternoon
This location is inside a building in sunny Southern California, so it can be photographed any month of the year.
The light pours into this space in the late-afternoon, as the large glass windows are western facing. Sunset will provide you with that beautiful orange magic-hour light and long shadows.
Field tips
This location may not be available during non-performance hours, and wont be accessible to non-ticket holders. Call ahead if you'd like to try to schedule a time to visit without purchasing performance tickets: 818-677-8800
Bring a wide-angle lens (24mm or wider) to capture the foyer in its entirety.
There are many beautiful light-filled locations within the foyer, but especially along the stairwell pictured — bring a friend to capture some stunning natural light portraiture!

Do nearby
Since VPAC is on a college campus in a college town your options are fairly limited. The Getty Museum is only a 30 minute drive south of Northridge.
