"When the lights go down in the city and the sun shines on the Bay" – if there was ever a location that visually captures the lyrics of this famous Journey song, this is it! This expansive beachfront is home to one of SF's most coveted views of the Golden Gate Bridge.

The GPS will lead you to Mason Street and then have you turn onto a one-way with a sign for Crissy Field. Now you will have arrived at the parking lot for the beach where you should find ample parking. The GPS coordinates will land you at the exact spot on the beach where I took the featured image; however, the shoreline is always changing with the tides and may appear slightly different.

All months are suitable to photograph at Crissy Field.
Shooting at sunset will ignite the sky with warm tones and silhouette the bridge and surrounding mountains.

Field tips

I used a 70-200mm lens at 70mm, which allowed me to zone in on the south tower of the bridge while still leaving room to include the reflective foreground.
I crouched pretty low to the sand to ensure most of the tower of the bridge was reflected in the shot.
The reflections constantly change with each incoming tide, so be patient and wait for your shot.
