I took this image of the flowers at Huangpu Park, facing east, looking onto the Shanghai skyline. The park is located very close to The Bund along the Huangpu River. You'll find a strip of flowers around the GPS coordinate. To capture the flowers in full bloom, I recommend visiting Huangpu Park in the summer months.

Come during sunrise for the best lighting conditions. With the sun rising over the city, you'll see more detail in the sky, as well as avoiding the large crowds that this park often has after 8am.

Don't obstruct the floral arrangements.

Try using a wide-angle lens (24mm) to capture the flowers, model and skyline.

Experiment with focusing on just the flowers or just the building. Find your own unique composition!

In the summer, people will be playing games near the park. Use this to your advantage and photograph them to capture the true lifestyle of summer in Shanghai.
