Shanghai World Financial Center, Shanghai Tower & Jin Mao Tower Look Up

This image is of a look up view of the Shanghai World Financial Center, Shanghai Tower and Jin Mao Tower. To get this view, I was on the ground, looking up onto my model, in the center of the three towers. When you get to the GPS coordinates, there will be a small grass garden where your model can sit so they're on a more elevated surface, resulting in the look up perspective that I achieved in my photo. By public transportation: - Closest station: Dongchang Road Station (via Line 2) - Head west on Century Ave - Turn left on Dongtai Rd - Turn right on Huayuanshiqiaolu Rd

You can photograph the Shanghai World Financial Center, Shanghai Tower and Jin Mao Tower during any month of the year.

The only time you'll be able to recreate similar lighting conditions is at night. You can visit this place during any time of the day, but at night, the towers will be illuminated against the night sky (like they are in my photo).

It's absolutely essential to use a 10mm lens to get this type of perspective. Without it, you won't be able to incorporate all of the buildings in your frame.

Similarly to using a ultra-wide lens, it's crucial that you're as low to the ground as possible, with your model at a higher level on the ledge that surrounds the greenery, so you can create a similar look up view. Being lower will also help to not distort your model too much.

Having a model will not only bring a sense of scale, it'll also allow you to create a focal point that guides the eye up toward the buildings.

Lujiazui is the financial district of Shanghai, but it also has a lot of great restaurants, like Yuezhenxuan or Piano Bar. Both of these, as well as many others, are within walking distance.

I also recommend heading north and checking out the Lujiazui Central Green Space, which is a nice piece of nature in the middle of the busy city.
