This image was taken on the south side of the CONTIPARK Parkhaus Arena, which is just west of the Mercedes Benz Arena. You can get this perspective by standing directly on the outside of the parking garage and having your model sit on the second to lowest structure. It's not explicitly prohibited to climb on the structure, but please be respectful if security asks you to stop photographing. By public transit: - Closest station: S+U Warschauer Str. (via U1 or U3 subway, bus or M10 tram) - Head northeast and take the stairs - Take the pedestrian overpass - Turn left toward Tamara-Danz-Straße - Turn right onto Tamara-Danz-Straße - Turn right onto Wanda-Kallenbach-Straße - Turn right onto Mildred-Harnack-Straße - Turn left so you're on the south exterior of the carpark

When to go

Best season

Best time

Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
You can photograph these geometric shapes any month. Personally, I like to shoot when it's dark and overcast, like in the winter months.
For similar weather conditions, visit this place in the morning, midday or late afternoon when the light shines through the openings of the wall into the interior of the car park. Try to avoid visiting here when there is an event in the area as it can get very busy.

Field tips

While having your model climb on the structure, please be careful! It isn't very high, but the structure is not built for climbing. Proceed with caution and be respectful if the security guard asks your model to get off of the structure.
I used a mobile phone with a tripod here. I suggest bringing both a small and large tripod if you're able to!
Stand in the center of the photo so that you're aligned with your model. Having your subject in the middle of your shot will create a sense of symmetry — especially since the structures varying in height, size and position. The model also gives the composition scale.
Experiment by framing different sections of the exterior — there are lots of shapes to play with!
