Pipiwai Trail Banyan Tree

avatar
@vincelimphoto
Pipiwai Trail along the road to Hana is a must-see when you're on the island of Maui. The hike leads to Waimoku falls, which is a towering waterfall where the water peacefully trickles down the vibrant green landscape. While you're walking on the trail, you'll also pass by several other waterfalls, a bamboo forest and this beautiful banyan tree.

This image of the banyan tree was taken along the Pipiwai Trail in Maui. To get to this location, you can park near the Kīpahulu Visitor Center (20.661663, -156.044890) and then head north to the trailhead. Follow the signs to start the hike and then once you're about halfway through the trail (20-25 minutes), you'll see this banyan tree. Reference the GPS coordinates while you walk and it'll help to lead you to the exact spot where I stood to capture this photo.
