Hong Keung Court Look Down

avatar
@vnthota
A 41-story residential complex in Lok Fu plays host to countless soccer, basketball and tennis games — it's true hype-court central! This sun-faded play field is located adjacent to the building's massive car park and it's the perfect spot for a dramatic drone shot from the sky. (before flying a drone, check and follow local drone regulations and permit requirements.)

This drone photo of the Hong Keung Court was taken from the Hong Keung Court Car Park. To get here, take the MTR to Lok Fu station (Green Line) and take exit A. Walk towards Lok Fu Estate Block, then head down the tree-covered pathway towards Heng Lam St. From there, at the edge of the block, turn left and walk towards Hong Keung Court Car Park. You should be able to launch your drone from here.

Tips

When to go

Best season

All months

Best time

Late afternoon
This drone image of the basketball court at Hong Kong Keung Court can be photographed during any month. I like visiting in June, July and August because the summer days are longer and you'll have more time to shoot with the late afternoon light.
The best time to photograph this location is in the late afternoon and early evening when the light is softer and the setting sun will create interesting shadows.

Field tips

Before flying a drone, check and follow local drone regulations and permit requirements. Always plan your flight path ahead and don't fly in unsuitable weather conditions.
Try not to fly your drone too high — if you're too far away in frame, you'll end up capturing less detail and you'll need to crop into the photo more in post-proceeding to get the perfect shot.
When composing your photo, I recommend attempting to center align the court.
Add a human element to create a sense of scale in your frame. I had my model lay in the center of the court, but you could experiment with a variety of different poses or even use props like a bicycle!

Do nearby

I recommend scoping out all the neighboring courts and, if possible, check out a live match between local residents.
