The featured image is of the Fortress Hill Staircase along King’s Road. I stood opposite the staircase on Oil Street for the composition. It’s easy to find!

When to go
Best season
All months
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
All months of the year are suitable to photograph the Fortress Hill Staircase.
Visit during the day so the staircase’s patchwork can be illuminated by the light. There’s also more foot traffic then which will bring some lifestyle into your image!
Field tips
Be careful if you're photographing the staircase from Oil Street. Wait for the red light so you don't have to dodge traffic.
As long as you have a lens around 50mm you should be able to frame the majority of the staircase. If you use a telephoto lens (>70mm) you’ll be able to create a compressed effect on the road and staircase.
Be patient and wait for foot traffic or something interesting to pass along into your frame.
