This drone photo was taken above the commercial building, One Island East, in the Taikoo Place complex in Quarry Bay. A drone perspective of One Island East is suitable for photography year round — as long as the weather permits safe flying.

During the morning, midday and late afternoon you can find similar lighting conditions.

Before flying a drone, check and follow local drone regulations and permit requirements.

I recommend planning your flight path in advance and being prepared for frustrating signal interference from all the tall buildings.

When composing your shot, try lining up the building perfectly under your camera. The perspective on the straight lines of the surrounding buildings will make the unique curved edges of the skyscraper stand out in a bold way.

Experiment visiting at different times a day to experience different lighting conditions. A flight later in the day could yield long, interesting shadows cast by the buildings.

This tower is next to many large building complexes that have plenty of interesting retail shops and restaurants — definitely explore with your drone as much as possible!
