Tin Heng Estate Playground, Courts & Estate Houses

This dense urban neighborhood of Hong Kong has a lot to offer: clusters of symmetrical buildings, rooftop basketball courts and playgrounds, their own light rail system and much more! (before flying a drone, check and follow local drone regulations and permit requirements)

How to get there

This image was taken with a drone on top of the Tin Heng Estate playground on the southeast side of the basketball courts. From this aerial view you can see the courts, playground and estate houses. The best way to get there is to take the MTR. There is also a parking garage (Tin Heng Estate Car Park) just north of the courts. Once at Tin Heng, look for the large, multi-colored building with zig-zag staircases. Make your way to the top of the car park, go to the edge of the basketball court and prep the drone for take off. In this photo, you can see where @flosslai and myself stood — just look at the southeast corner of the courts! By MTR: - Closest Station: Tin Shui Wai Station (West Rail line) - Take the 705 light rail to Tin Heng - Once at Tin Heng, look for the large, multi-colored building with zig-zag staircases - You can take the elevator or stairs to the top of the building

Field tips

Before flying a drone, check and follow local drone regulations and permit requirements.
I recommend bringing a booster for your drone antennas. There's quite a lot of interference in the area, so make sure you have a strong signal.
Once you take off with your drone, try flying across the road and up just enough to get the buildings in the background. Make sure to still incorporate the basketball courts in view, too.
Take a couple of shots just wide enough so when in post-processing, you're able to crop in and fix the perspective.
