When to go
All months are suitable to photograph this view from the China Hong Kong City towers.
In my opinion, the best time to go here is at sunset. The buildings themselves are already a gold colour, so the amber hue of the setting sun will enhance the colours even more.
Field tips
Try using a wide-angle lens at this location. For reference, I used a 12-24mm lens but a 16-24mm would also be good enough.
Aim to centre the image between the two towers and balance the horizon – symmetry is key here!
Take care of the leading lines and keep the perspective as straight as possible, which is another tactic that'll help with creating a sense of perfect symmetry.
Ask the model to position themselves so they're in the middle of your frame and then utilize the outline of their silhouette with the sun behind them.
Having a model in the shot will also add scale to your photo.
Don't forget to look up for another photogenic perspective.

Do nearby
If you head toward the harbour, you can walk along the top of the ferry terminal right to the end. This spot offers an amazing clear view of Hong Kong's skyline and there's also a telescope so you can have a closer look at the island.
Even better — if you go back the other way toward Tsim Sha Tsui, you can go across the bridge and on your righthand side you'll see a small park full of flamingos!
