Lower Michigan Ave Bridge (DuSable Bridge)

Getting down to Lower Michigan and Lower Wacker is like getting inside the belly of the beast. There's nothing but grit, grime and a ton of leading lines down there. They recently changed the bulbs to LED at this bridge, so you'll be able to capture a crisp, white light. It's great for a moody portrait or to photograph the darker side of the city.

This image was taken on the Lower Michigan Ave Bridge, which merges into the DuSable Bridge. To get this perspective, reference the GPS coordinates and then stand facing south for this view. There are a variety of staircases on Michigan Ave that can take you down to Lower Wacker. Make sure that once you're on the bridge, you stay north. On the north side, you'll find access to south-facing points from either side of the street. Continue to head south for about 100ft and then you'll be at the entrance of the lower bridge. By subway: - Closest station: Grand (Red Line) - Head east on E Grand Ave toward N Wabash Ave - Turn right onto N Rush St - Turn left toward N Michigan Ave - Turn right toward N Michigan Ave - Turn right onto N Michigan Ave
