I took this photo on the RFK Bridge Trail near the entrance on Randall's Island. If you don't want to walk from Manhattan to Randall's Island, you can use public transportation.
By Subway and Bus:
- Closest Station: 125 St Station (4, 5 or 6 Train)
- Get off of the subway and onto the M35 bus toward Wards Island
- Get off the bus at Main Rdwy/Manhattan Psyc Ctr (6 stops)
- Walk south toward the RFK Bridge Trail and reference the GPS for exact coordinates.
Tips
When to go
Best season
All months
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
You can photograph on this trail any month of the year, but during the summer months you'll get the most sunlight.
In the afternoon, you'll get the best light along the trail.
Field tips
Try using the sides of the pathway as leading lines in your photo. I positioned the model off-center so that she didn't block the way the bridge lines lead into a vanishing point.
I used a model in my photo to show scale. I would suggest doing this, too, so you can see the true size of the bridge trail.
The photo has a very urban feel and the curved lines of the pathway are blurred, adding a softness to the image.
