This image was taken behind the trees that line the grounds of Fyvie Castle in Aberdeenshire.
Fyvie Castle lies off the A947, 8 miles south-east of Turriff and 25 miles north-west of Aberdeen, so the easiest way to get to this location is by car. Input "Fyvie Castle" into your GPS and then park near the grounds once you get there (there will be signs).

Tips
When to go
Best season
May, June, July, August, September, October
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
In the summer and early fall, you can photograph the tree framing Fyvie Castle with the green lawn. In the winter, the tree will be bare, but you can still visit the castle.
Visit during the day when the sun is shining to bring out the shades of color from the a the architecture.
Field tips
A wide-angle lens (34mm) will allow you to photograph the entirety of the scene. If your lens is too narrow, you won't be able to showcase how large the castle is.
Symmetry is key here. Make sure you position yourself in the center of the castle and use the main door as a way to guide your stance.
Utilize the trees in the courtyard to frame your image. By using the rule of thirds, you can have the leaves in the top third, the castle in the middle and green grass at the bottom.
