Block 75 Bedok North Rd view of Block 76 Bedok North Rd Façade

This photograph is taken from Block 75 Bedok North Rd and is of Block 76’s façade. To get there, walk into the Block 74-82 car entrance on Bedok North Rd and towards Block 75. Take Lift “C” (closest to the entrance) to floor ~7, exit left, and walk down to the middle of the block. To your left you’ll see Block 76’s façade. You can also access block 75 via Tanah Mareh Kechil Rd from the MRT. By MRT: - Closest MRT Station: Tanah Mareh (East West Line) - Take exit “B” - Head southwest on New Upper Changi Rd - Turn right onto Tanah Mareh Kechil Rd. Visit early August during Singapore’s national day to capture the Singaporean flags hung off the resident’s balconies (check for the actual dates). That said, it’s beautiful to shoot any month of year.

A visit during mid-day brings harsh light which helps emphasize the contrast between the varying colors of the gradient.

Be quiet and mindful of the residents when photographing – and don’t stay too long.

I took this photograph from level 7 to get a variety of the gradient’s colors. It gave my image two levels of red, four yellow, and three beige hues. If you want more red hues go to a lower floor. Up to your preference!

Do you see the vertical line splitting the levels? I used it to symmetrically split my shot.

Use wide-angle lens (16mm) to incorporate the most of this straight façade capture.

If you brought along a telephoto lens you can also capture some really good candid Singaporean living.

Go eat at Block 85 Bedok North Rd Hawker Center. You can smell it from Block 76!
