When to go
Shooting from the Singapore Flyer is great every month of the year!
To ensure you’re nearing the top of the Singapore Flyer when the sky is most vibrant, start your ascent up the Singapore Flyer about 15 minutes before the scheduled sunset. The skyline should also be well lit at this time!
Field tips
Use a wide-angle lens of at least 35mm to capture the entire skyline. If you use a 50mm or greater you won’t be able to capture the entirety of the Marina bay.
You will be enclosed by glass while riding the Singapore Flyer, so I recommend sticking your camera directly against the glass to best avoid reflections.
If you’re going to use a tripod, make sure to have your composition set. You will only have a small window to get your long exposure shot (unless you get lucky and the Singapore Flyer stops for a minute or two for handicapped passengers or dinner being served to guests eating on board).
Pay attention to the balance of your composition. I framed in thirds: the Marina Bay, building skyline, and the sky.
