When to go
All months are suitable to photograph the interior of the Supreme Court Terrace.
A visit around mid-day illuminates the ceiling and will result in more distinguished shadows.
Field tips
Use a wide-angle lens to capture as much of the expansive terrace as you can. I incorporated a model to bring the image to life.
Depending on the time of day you visit the shadows will vary. Pay close attention to them and try to incorporate them into your shot.
There’s several great perspectives of the Rotunda dome. Walk around to find that perfect composition! I chose to center and photograph the dome straight on and balanced the shot using the railing as a horizontal reference point.
