When to go
Thian Hock Keng Temple can be photographed during any month of the year since there isn't any seasonal landscape in the image.
For similar conditions, you'll want to visit at night when the lanterns are aglow.
Field tips
A wide-angle lens will allow you to capture the street, lanterns and Gucco Tower in the back. Careful you don't go too wide, though, because you could end up distorting the image.
Try to photograph from a bit of an angle so that the camera is focused upward toward the illuminated lanterns, which will draw attention to them even more.
Since this photo is a bit whimsical, I wanted to add a model in the shot to bring additional vibrancy and life into the frame.
I also think it would make for a great photo to stand directly under the lanterns and shoot head on. From this perspective, you'll be able to emphasize the symmetry of the rows of lanterns and see this unique location from a completely different perspective.
