Wheelock Place Escalator Look Up

This location is the entrance to Wheelock Place (shopping mall) at the Orchard Rd and Paterson Rd intersection. Upon entering I stood just to the left side of the escalator. By MRT: - Closest MRT Station: Orchard (North South Line) - Take exit “E” - Head northeast - Turn left towards Paterson Rd and cross the street Address: Wheelock Place, 501 Orchard Rd, Singapore 238880

All months of the year are suitable to shoot this interior interstellar like location.

Visit at night when the interior lights are all turned on, creating a dreamy feel. Avoid visiting during the day as it actually looks quite unappealing!

Use a wide-angle lens (16mm) to maximize the capture of the interior ceiling lights.

Set your tripod at its shortest setting - getting low creates a sense of scale of how high the ceiling goes above the escalator.

Be patient and wait for people to ride the escalator into your view. It helps bring the image to life and adds depth to the shot.

Pay attention to all the leading lines surrounding you and compose your shot to create a portal like feeling.

Try moving around the base of the escalator to create a different look and feel of the architecture.
