Sunset
All months of the year are suitable to shoot the entrance archway at Haw Par Villa.
I photographed during sunset (around 6-7PM). The golden sunlight helped to illuminate and enhance the colors in the shot, without being too harsh. There wasn't a crowd during sunset and I was able to take my time and compose my shot with multiple angles.
Try to avoid midday since it'll be too hot and you'll have a greater chance of over exposure in your shot.
Field tips
Use a wide-angle lens (15-30mm) to capture the entirety of the archway in your frame.
I shot slightly higher than eye level, as to not distort the shape of the archway. It helps to try and use your camera's grid to ensure a symmetrical shot.
Incorporate a model in your image to add a sense of scale.
