Mount Shuksan & Picture Lake

avatar
@michaelmatti
The crystal-clear reflection of Mount Shuksan, the fluffy white clouds and green trees are the perfect recipe for a serene scene in the PNW. It's one of the most photographed and beautiful vistas in North America and is very easy to access—just a short stroll from the parking lot!

This photo was taken at the edge of Picture Lake on the way to Artist Point. You'll need to drive to this location. Head out on Mt. Baker Highway (Hwy 542) and just after the section of switchbacks, you'll pass The Chalet at Mt. Baker on your right. Immediately after passing this building, take the fork to the right and there are a few parking spaces on the left side of the road. Park at one of these spots and walk the short trail towards the lake. Reference the GPS coordinates to get to the correct location, which is right up at the water's edge. Stay on the path so as not to damage the plants.
