Picture Lake offers incredible views without requiring much effort, so it's an ideal destination for a variety of travelers. The towering Mount Shuksan is reflected in the water on calm days and at sunrise, it's apparent why this location is named Picture Lake — it's as pretty as a picture! It also doesn't hurt that you're surrounded by mountains in all directions, including the impressive Mt Baker, amongst others.

How to get there

This photo was taken from Picture Lake with a view of Mount Shuksan. Luckily, this location is one of the easiest to find and it's very accessible to get there by car. Drive along Highway 542 going east through the town of Glacier and then for another 21 miles until you reach a fork in the road. Turn right and Picture Lake will be on your left. The parking area is just past the The Chalet on Mt. Baker. If you're using GPS, you can also input Picture Lake Trailhead or reference the GPS given. After you park, walk toward the lake's wooden viewing area to get this perspective.
