Dinny the Dinosaur at Cabazon Dinosaurs (World's Biggest Dinosaurs)

Made famous by the 1985 movie Pee Wee's Big Adventure, this steel-and-concrete dinosaur is one of two that tower over road-trippers on their way across the California highway. If you're passing through the area, it's a must-see spot for snapping some lifestyle shots — there's even a natural history museum nearby that you can visit, too.

This image is of Dinny the Dinosaur, which is one of two enormous dinosaurs at the I-10 rest stop of Cabazon Dinosaurs. I stood on the pedestrian walkway adjacent to the parking lot, facing south toward the expressway. The outdoor dinosaur sculptures are free to access, but you will have to pay to enter the museum grounds (9AM-7PM). By car: - Exit the I-10 via 106 Exit Address: Cabazon Dinosaurs, 50770 Seminole Dr, Cabazon, CA 92230

When to go

Best time

Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
Dinny the Dinosaur at Cabazon Dinosaurs can be photographed during any month of the year.
The monochrome desert landscape will produce similar lighting conditions during the morning, midday or late afternoon.

Field tips

Dinny the Dinosaur is a 45-foot-high, 150-foot-long sculpture so a wide-angle lens is key here. If your lens is too narrow, you won't be able to fit the entire sculpture into your frame.
To capture that effortless California look, incorporate the blue sky and mountains in the background.
Experiment with the angle at which you shoot from. You can get high, go low, stand off to the side — the possibilities are endless here. I also highly recommend photographing the other sculpture, Mr. Rex to get some additional photos.
