When to go
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
Dinny the Dinosaur at Cabazon Dinosaurs can be photographed during any month of the year.
The monochrome desert landscape will produce similar lighting conditions during the morning, midday or late afternoon.
Field tips
Dinny the Dinosaur is a 45-foot-high, 150-foot-long sculpture so a wide-angle lens is key here. If your lens is too narrow, you won't be able to fit the entire sculpture into your frame.
To capture that effortless California look, incorporate the blue sky and mountains in the background.
Experiment with the angle at which you shoot from. You can get high, go low, stand off to the side — the possibilities are endless here. I also highly recommend photographing the other sculpture, Mr. Rex to get some additional photos.

Venture into the small museum and gift shop to pick up some Cabazon memorabilia.
Head east and check out Palm Springs (about 17 miles away) or Joshua Tree National Park (about 41 miles away). Both areas offer peaceful desert landscape with shops, restaurants and attractions.
