Del Mar North Beach in San Diego is the perfect spot to witness the picturesque combination of stunning sunsets, towering palm trees, and modern architecture. This dog-friendly beach is also a popular surf spot, where you can catch some waves or simply relax on the pristine sandy shores.

Driving on Camino Del Mar, you'll find metered parking on the street just north of Dog Beach. If you're coming from the south there's plenty of parking in the neighborhoods nearby.
I took the featured image on the east side of the beach nearest to Camino Del Mar road. Refer to the GPS coordinate in ‘satellite’ view for the exact spot!

Sunset
All months are a great time to visit Del Mar Beach. In the summer, the water will be a bit warmer and the beach will be more crowded.
The sun sets directly behind this beach making it the best time of day to go! There will be surfers exiting the water and dogs playing at this time giving you great subjects to photograph.
Field tips
On busy summer days or weekends, parking can get tricky so make sure you arrive a bit early in case you need to find a spot.
Try to go when the surf is good — you'll have more subjects to photograph on those days.
There's a pedestrian bridge on Camino Del Mar that I often photograph from since it provides a nice high up vantage point looking down on the beach.
