West K Street and Palm Trees

I took this image of a treelined road along West K Street, just off of the South Coast Highway 101 in Encinitas, California. I stood facing west toward the sunset to get this view. To get there, I recommend driving or taking an Uber to the GPS coordinates and then standing in the middle of street to get your shot.

West K street in Encinitas has similar weather conditions all months of the year.

As you face west, the sunset will be directly behind the hill illuminating the sky with blue, purple, pink, orange and yellow hues. I definitely recommend coming here at sunset!

Use a wide-angle lens to incorporate the trees, street and sunset into your shot. Having all three of these elements will add a sense of depth to your image.

Align yourself with the middle of the road, so the lanes can act as leading lines — guiding the eye to the center of the image. Just make sure to watch out for cars!

For a new perspective, try getting lower to the ground rather than getting the shot at eye level.
