Borkum Beach Colorful Tents

This image was taken across the road from the Strandhotel Hohenzollern, looking west onto the laguna of Borkum Beach. There is an elevated pedestrian path above the beach, giving you a higher perspective, which will allow you to capture the details of the beach tents. To get there, you can either take the Inselbahn or bus. If coming by the Inselbahn, get off at Am Georg-Schütte-Platz and then follow the signs to "Strand" (beach). By bus: - Closest stop: Borkum Kriegerdenkmal (bus 650) - Head south on Hindenburgstraße toward Willem-Schol-Pfad - Continue onto Am Georg-Schütte-Platz - Turn right onto Bismarckstraße - Continue onto Bürgermeister-Kieviet-Promenade - Turn right to stay on Bürgermeister-Kieviet-Promenade

Visit in the summer when the beach is set up with tents and chairs. In June, the island and the beach will be quiet since summer vacation doesn't start until July.

For similar conditions, visit this place in the morning (around 8am) as you will have the beach mostly to yourself — except for some joggers or people walking their dog. Also, make sure to visit at low tide to capture the beach when the sand is visible.

I recommend facing west so that the beach looks as if it's vanishing off into the distance.

Study the colorful tent placements and frame your favorite ones.

If you'd like, you can bring a tripod here. A tripod will help stabilize your image and you'll also be able to take many images at once.

Find a nice place on the promenade near the rails, breathe in the clean air and become one with the island.

Have a coffee at one of the "Milchbuden.“ You‘ll find them all along the beachfront.

Take a walk on the beach — it seems endless with its pristine sand and gorgeous views.

If you book well in advance, you might be able to get a room in the beautiful Hotel Hohenzollern.

And last but not least, return to the station of the Inselbahn and see if you can take some photos of the train‘s antique interior.
