Looking to add some color to your photography? This location not only pops with hues of vibrant orange and red, but it's also symmetrically pleasing to the eye. Take a trip to this simple, yet eye-catching, alley and you'll uncover a spot that even locals don't know about.

This image of the red alleyway was taken at Bayerischer Bahnhof, just next to the Metro sation of the same name. To get there, I recommend taking public transportation. After exiting the metro station, walk north and take the long escalator ride to the top (by the way, this escalator is also a very great photography location). Once leaving the station, turn right and look back. You'll see an old, but maintained, building with four rounded gates. If you look closely, you'll be able to spot the red stones that are in my photo. Walk toward the building and use the GPS coordinates as a reference to get to the exact spot where I stood. Tips

When to go

Best season

All months

Best time

Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
Because the red alleyway at Bayerischer Bahnof is covered, you can photograph this location during any month of the year.
I recommend coming here during the day—especially when there isn't direct sunlight. Having some indirect sunlight will make it easier to setup your camera with a lower ISO.

Field tips

For this featured photographed, my model jumped to add a playful element to the composition. When recreating this pose, use a fast shutter speed (1/200 sec or more) to avoid blurry elements where there will be a lot of movement (like shoes and hands).
I suggest using a tripod if you want to have a good symmetrical view in your unedited photograph. A tripod will also help to reduce motion blur.
Even though I did it in my photo, you don't have to position the model centered at the end of the alley. Play with hiding some of their body behind one of the walls, only keeping the head or an arm visible to the viewer. Get creative!
When editing the image in post-processing, make sure the horizontal and vertical lines are parallel to emphasize the symmetry at this photo location.

Make sure to take some pictures of the Bayerischer Bahnof Metro Station below. The escalator lookup is quite unique!
Also, stop by at Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz Metro Station for an impressively modern, and slightly curved, metro design.
