I took this photograph from a paved median on Connaught Road Central and faced east towards the International Finance Towers. The median is below and east of a footbridge. Refer to the GPS coordinate in satellite view and you’ll be able to navigate there!
By MTR Station:
- The closest Station: Sheung Wan (Island Line)
- Take Exit "B"
- Turn left on Des Voeux Road Central
- Turn left Gilman Street
- Turn right on Connaught Street

Best time
Night
You can photograph from Connaught Road Central all months of the year.
Visit at night to take advantage of the light trails from passing traffic and the illuminated skyscrapers. Around 11pm the lights will start to turn off.
Field tips
Be careful when crossing the street to the paved island.
By using a wide-angle lens (10mm) you’ll be able to frame both your model and the towering skyscrapers in the background.
For more prominent light trails try slowing your shutter speed to 10-15 seconds.
There’s lots to compose at this location: your model, the railing, the road, the skyscrapers, the light posts. Take some time to perfectly compose your shot.
