It's an iconic shot. In fact, you've probably seen it before. But here's your chance to put your own spin on it. DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) is one of Brooklyn's trendiest, and most historic, neighborhoods. It's also one of the best spots to drink in views of the city, bridges, skyline, and more. What better place to see the Manhattan Bridge than right up under it?

This photo of the Manhattan Bridge was taken from Adam Street in Dumbo. I stood on Adam Street in between Water Street and Front Street and faced north towards the bridge.
By Subway:
- Closest Station: 33 Street (F and A Train)
- Head north on Jay St toward York St
- Turn left at the 1st cross street onto York St
- Turn right at the 2nd cross street onto Adams St

You can capture moody views of the Manhattan Bridge from Dumbo any month of year. The rainiest months in New York are April and May.
At night, the bridge beautifully illuminates. And if you visit after it rains, the streets will be slick giving the scene a reflective feel. All to be said, visiting during the day can also be great.
Field tips
By using a wide-angle lens (35mm), you'll be able to frame both a model on the street and the Manhattan Bridge in the distance.
Ideally, your lens would have a low aperture (f/1.4), which will allow you to capture more details when photographing at night without a grainy result.
Be patient and wait for a passerby to cross your frame. If you have a model, try having them hold an umbrella or some other accessory to bring more character into your image.
You'll notice I framed a particularly bright light in the center of my image. Get creative on how you balance the city lights, model and the bridge.
