When to go
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
During any month, you'll be able to photograph Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls. The seasons will have little to no affect on this view.
You can capture similar lighting conditions on an overcast day in the morning, midday and late afternoon. My recommendation is to arrive in the morning to avoid the crowds.
When skies are clear, sunrise and sunset will provide the best light for photography.
Field tips
Before flying a drone, check and follow local drone regulations and permit requirements.
When composing your shot, I think it's best to have the waterfall in the foreground and the Kilt Rock cliffs in the background to give your image great depth.
Play around with drone altitude and distance from the falls. A look down from higher up may look better than a real close up shot.
Considering using a Neutral Density or polarizer filter to help you achieve a slower shutter speed and cut all glare and reflections.
If you don't have a drone, bring along a wide-angle lens. The viewing platform offers a magnificent view even without a drone, so a wide-angle lens will allow you to photograph this view from different angles and perspectives while still being able to achieve a similar look.
