Marina East Breakwater view of Marina Bay & Skyline

This location is on the edge of the southernmost side of Marina East Park. The best way to get here is to travel by car to Marina Barrage. Walk to the back and cross the bridge, which leads you towards Bay East. After you have crossed the bridge, make a right and walk straight towards the end towards the coast. Once at the coast, you should see a long stretch overlooking the sea. From there you will have a view of Marina Barrage and Marina Bay Sands. By MRT: - Closest MRT Station: Bayfront (Circle Line and Downtown Line) - Follow signs to Gardens by the Bay - Walk alongside the Marina Bay River and follow the path down towards Marina Barrage (~30 minutes)

All months of the year are suitable to photograph from Bay East.

Because this is such an open area, visiting in the late-afternoon and sunset allows you to capture beautifully colored gradients in the sky.

I used a prime lens (50mm) to capture the backlight of the model as the sun was setting. For this style of shot I didn’t need that wide of an angle and was still able to incorporate the skyline, and even some of the Marina Bay Sands hotel.

I positioned my model with her back facing the sunset just as the sky started to turn warm. I think it’s the perfect time to take this type of photograph.

Notice the puddles in the foreground? It rained earlier so look for puddles to create a reflection shot.

Fly a kite or have a picnic! The Marina East Park and Marina Barrage is a great place to relax. There are also some restaurants nearby Marina Barrage alongside the river.
