Swissotel The Stamford Hotel view of Singapore Skyline (night)

This was photographed within the Swissotel the Stamford hotel. I was on the 55th floor in a Harbour View room. If you are below the 40th floor you can request to have your balcony opened. If you aren’t a guest or don’t have access to a room you can visit the Equinox Restaurant on the 70th floor. You can still get a fantastic shot but it’s from a higher perspective. All months of the year are suitable to photograph from the Swissotel The Stamford.

Visit at night to capture the illuminated cityscape (and maybe you’ll get lucky to capture a thunderstorm!). Sunset views are also great to photograph, as well as during New Year fireworks!

From your hotel room, put your lens as close to the window as possible to avoid window reflection.

If there’s a thunderstorm use a long exposure to capture the lightening.

Without the thunderstorm there’s a lot of dead / negative space in the upper leftmost part of my composition; I’m lucky to have caught lightning to balance my photograph. Otherwise, you may want to crop out some of the sky.
