How to get there

This image was taken in the Hall of Treasures, Basement 1 of Resorts World Sentosa. To get this perspective, take the escalator down to Basement 1 of Resorts World Sentosa, where various shops and restaurants can be found. Once you're there, walk toward the Casino Entrance until there's the Members Lounge and a Central Hong Kong Café on your right. Continue past that and then turn right before the Casino Entrance and you should be in the Hall of Treasures. Walk along this walkway and you'll greeted by the escalator, which is where I took this shot. Reference the GPS coordinates and you'll see exactly where I stood. By Monorail: - At VivoCity, proceed to level 3 to board the Sentosa Express ($4.00 per entry) - Board the monorail and alight at the next stop, Waterfront station and walk to Resorts World Sentosa By MRT: - Take North-East line or Circle line to HarbourFront station (NE1/CC29) - Walk via the Sentosa Boardwalk or take the Monorail

Tips

When to go

Best season

All months

Best time

Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon, Sunset, Night
The Hall of Treasures in Resorts World Sentosa is bustling with locals and tourists alike year round and can be photographed during any month.
If you intend to have a model in your shot, you might want to visit during off-peak hours, such as early in the morning when there'll be significantly less people there. From lunch until dinner, there'll be a cascade of locals and tourists, which will allow you to capture people standing on the escalator (like I have in this shot).

Field tips

Make sure to use a wide-angle lens (15mm) if you want to capture the entirety of the escalator, as well as the colourful lights around it.
I stayed low to the ground so I could capture the base of the escalator. Then, I pointed the camera upward to include the lights above in the shot.
I recommend using your camera grid to ensure you take a well-balanced, symmetrical shot.
I also think it's advantageous to make the best use of the leading lines to point the viewer's eyes to the subject or centre of the picture.
